Die Bumps

In my game we use something called Die Bumps. If you've ever played through the RPGA, you probably know what these are. What they do is When someone rolls a die and they are 1 away from doing whatever it is (I.E. Rolls 19 on a DC 20) they may use one of these die bumps in order to bump their roll to the desired value. Now it's the GM's job to tell the player that they are so little away from making it, but it's the players decision to use it.

Now according to my rules, you may use up to 3 die bumps for any roll concerning the character. Die bumps are allowed to move the roll up or downbut no more then 3 at a time. Many times, having one or two die bumps can save a character from certain destruction. Some GMs in the RPGA allowed people to use die bumps for other people, I dont do this.

An additional rule for die bumps is that I allow my players who are behind the max experience cap to use die bumps for a 100xp bonus. This means that instead of exchanging one die bump for a +1 or -1 to a roll, they can instead use it for +100xp towards the current maximum experience.

A final rule, since item creation costs so much xp for Angreal and Sa'angreal, I allow my players to use a die bump for 200xp towards item creation but only towards item creation. So this means if the item cost 267xp to create, the channeler may use 1 die bump to cover the first 200xp and the last 67 they need to use from their own pocket. If it costs 199xp to create the item, they may not use a die bump for it. This, though, does not stop them from using the die bump as 100xp towards max and then using part or all of that 100xp.
